About Us
Located in the heart of Milwaukee’s Capitol Heights neighborhood, Blossoming Nook Daycare is a licensed family-centered childcare dedicated to supporting young parents and providing parenting support. We care for children ages 1 to 7 years in a safe, nurturing environment where each child receives personalized attention and support tailored to their developmental needs. Welcoming all families into our extended childcare family.
Our play-based learning approach fosters academic growth, social skills, and emotional well-being. We encourage children to learn through hands-on experiences in art, language, science, and nature. Our focus on social and emotional development aims to build resilience, empathy, and effective communication skills, helping children develop meaningful relationships and a strong sense of self. Blossoming Nook Daycare is a licensed family child care program committed to excellence, currently pursuing accreditation to reflect its dedication to the highest standards in home-based early childhood education and care. We provide balanced, nutritious meals and snacks to support healthy growth and development, along with transportation services and parenting support to meet the needs of the whole family.
Our approach is rooted in family-centered care, strengthened by additional resources and referrals. Through our sister organization Community Link Inc., we offer a comprehensive range of services for parents including wellness and educational classes, workforce development training, and peer support groups, all designed to empower parents in reaching their personal goals.
To help parents manage costs, we offer opportunities to volunteer in exchange for free or reduced childcare cost. We also provide drop-in care options, giving parents peace of mind during unexpected situations, ensuring their children are always in a secure, nurturing environment.

Respite & Family Support (CLTS)
We provide Respite Care, Childcare Services, Mentoring, and Transportation through The Children’s Long-Term Support (CLTS) Program; which assists children with disabilities and their families through supports and services that help children grow and live their best lives. About Me
Founder, Blossoming Nook Daycare
Hello, my name is Katrina Gilbert, and I’m a proud Milwaukee native with a passion for empowering children and families. I studied Human Services at Milwaukee Area Technical College and Marian University and bring over a decade of experience working in family care services, and behavioral counseling.
My work in human services and mental health gave me a firsthand understanding of the overwhelming challenges families face from navigating limited resources to finding consistent, high-quality childcare. These experiences opened my eyes to how vital a strong support system is for both children and their parents. That insight inspired me to follow my true calling: creating a nurturing, family-centered environment where children can thrive and parents feel empowered, supported, and never alone on their journey.
I’m proud to serve on the Milwaukee Succeeds Planning Committee and actively participate in NAG (New Advisory Group) meetings for NAP SACC, where I volunteer as an industry representative to help shape emerging workforce and education initiatives in our community.
At Blossoming Nook Daycare, I bring both personal passion and professional experience to every child and family we serve.
